Sintered SmCo Magnet

Sintered SmCo Magnets for extreme temperature and corrosion resistance

Overview

Sintered samarium-cobalt (SmCo) magnets retain stable magnetic performance at temperatures up to 350°C and offer natural corrosion resistance. They are suitable for aerospace, automotive sensors, motors, medical devices and other demanding applications.

High maximum operating temperature (up to 350°C; special grades above 350°C upon review) Natural corrosion and oxidation resistance; coating optional for harsh environments Low temperature coefficient of magnetic properties

TYPES

Types

SmCo5 (1:5)

SmCo5 magnets provide a good balance of magnetic performance and mechanical strength. They are relatively easier to machine into thin or complex shapes and are typically used up to 250°C.

Sm₂Co₁₇ (2:17)

Sm₂Co₁₇ magnets deliver higher energy product and can operate at temperatures up to 350°C. They exhibit excellent corrosion resistance and a low temperature coefficient, but are more brittle than SmCo5.
